Edinburgh Aerial Workshops – September

Sunday Aerial One-off Workshop in August and September.

6 September  (update, this was moved from 30 August) Roly Poly Silks with Hannah Wright.

Level. Strong Beginner/Improver.

Come and learn how we can use forward rolls in our silks choreography. We’ll look at climbs and sequences that all involve a roly poly element. To get the most from this workshop you should be confident inverting in the air though if you’ve got a good Parcel (Russian) climb and you’d like to give this workshop a go, most of the sequences can be tried from the floor.

13 September.  ‘Intro to Spin’ Silks with Emanuela Orti.

Level.  Experienced Beginner/Improver.

This workshop is all about learning how to start a spin, bear the motion, and work on a nice sequence (or two!) of pretty shapes and transitions. We’ll start with slow, gentle spins so your body can adjust, though everything we do can be done completely static with no spin if you need a break!  To give you the best experience for your level and comfort, we’ll be covering two sequence options: one in the knot, focusing on shapes and building spin tolerance with solid support, and one out of the knot, which is great for testing your grip and expanding your range of motion. You can focus entirely on one option or challenge yourself by working on both!  To get ready, make sure to stay hydrated, and eat a small, carb-focused snack about an hour before we start.

27 September.  ‘Latin Vibe Experience’ Silk with Emanuela Orti.

Level. Improver/Intermediate.
Prerequisites: Multiple inverts in the air.

Bring the heat to the silks and dance through the air!  In this workshop, you’ll learn a short sequence packed with cool shapes, drops and transitions to the rhythm of high-energy Latin tracks.  We’ll focus on bringing authentic dance energy onto the apparatus, so if you’re ready for a fun, reggaeton-filled afternoon, come join the vibe!
