About Our Classes
All or Nothing offers classes for all ages across Scotland. Let’s get flying!
Our classes are taught by experienced and trained tutors; we offer something for everyone, from absolute beginners to professional aerialists.
Our classes run at Out of the Blue Drill Hall in Leith, Edinburgh, The Dunblane Centre in Dunblane, at uGym in Tillicoultry and the 9th West Lothian Scout Hall in Livingston. These can all be booked on our booking page. We also run classes for adults, young people and professionals at Dance Base in Edinburgh. To book or enquire about these classes, please contact Dance Base directly.
We can also arrange private sessions, children’s parties, team-building days or other events at our centres in Edinburgh or Dunblane. Get in touch with us at info@aerialdance.co.uk for more details.
We are committed to making our classes accessible to everyone and this includes people with limited funds. Please see our Access Fund for further information.
New to aerial? Check out our FAQ for more information about our aerial classes and locations
Aerial is any physical movement that takes place off the ground – typically suspended in the air. It is a physical artform that allows participants to experience the feeling of flying while they practice both dynamic and static movements on aerial equipment.
There are so many different types of aerial equipment, and our different locations can offer slightly different options. Typically, All or Nothing classes will involve either aerial silks, static or dance trapeze and aerial hoop (also known as a lyra), or any combination of the three.
We want our students to get to try as many different types of equipment and styles as possible, so we run occasional workshops for adults with other types of equipment such as aerial dance harness, corde lisse rope and cloudswing.
Not at all! We begin at the very start – you do not need any specific skills or strength prior to starting. Due to our small class sizes, we are able to tailor our classes to suit the abilities of every student participating. This includes variations for those still building their strength or flexibility, or extra flair for those progressing quickly. We encourage students to work at the level they feel most comfortable at, and our tutors are there to help them.
Our children’s and young people’s classes are organised by age group, with Fledglings (P1-P3), Juniors (P4-P7) and Youth (S1-S6) classes. We then group our adult classes (ages 16+) by experience level, so there is no upper age limit. Adult classes are split into Beginners, Improvers and Intermediates. Our class administrators and tutors are happy to help you work out which class would suit you best. Contact details can be found at the end of the FAQs.

Our children’s and young people’s classes consist of a warm-up, before training time on the aerial equipment where the young people learn different moves and tricks, do creative tasks and put sequences together. They will finish with a cool down.
Parents can’t stay in the studio during class. We often invite parents to join us at the end of the summer or winter term to see what the students have been working on. Parents will be invited to those classes ahead of time.
In our adult classes, photos and videos may be taken of yourself. We request that students ask permission from anyone else visible in the photo/video before sharing to social media. Feel free to tag us in anything you share, we try to share as many student stories as possible.
Photography/videoing is not permitted in classes with young people under the age of 16.
We may occasionally hire photographers and videographers to get footage of our classes for marketing purposes. In these cases, students and parents and guardians will be informed ahead of the class, and consent forms will be made available.
Comfortable clothes that have a bit of stretch (such as fitness leggings or jogging bottoms) will be most comfortable on the equipment. Try to avoid anything too loose as it may get caught in/around the equipment.
Clothing should cover the back of the knees, around the waist and under the arms, and bringing an extra long-sleeve layer such as a jumper can be helpful for extra protection where needed. Classes are typically conducted bare foot but we recommend students bring socks with them to class too.
Please tie back long hair and remove any jewellery before class starts.
Our classes can fill up with our existing students quite quickly, so it is possible to be on a class waitlist for several months or even a year. If you have received confirmation that you’ve been added to a waitlist, we would be in contact with you – via the contact email you shared with us when joining the waitlist – before removing you from the waitlist. If you have been contacted three times and we haven’t received a response, then your email is removed from the waitlist.
You are always welcome to send us an email to find out where you are on the waitlist and see if there are other classes that may be available to you.
Most of our classes are offered on a termly basis only, students must book the classes for a full term at a time. Terms vary in length and are usually between 5-8 weeks long. The class booking page will indicate the term dates and full cost of the term.
In addition to our regular termly classes, we do also schedule one-off classes and workshops that can be booked as a single class. Check our website and class booking page for more info.
We can also offer private classes in our Edinburgh and Dunblane locations. Get in touch with us with a brief description of what you’re looking for and we will get back to you with what we can offer.
Yes! Aerial is a performing art and we provide various opportunities for this to happen.
Our Youth Showcases happen every year in Edinburgh and are open to all our young people who take classes.
In Dunblane we offer showcases and cabarets for both young people and adults, though the frequency of these can vary.
For young people interested in developing their aerial and performance skills further, our Edinburgh and Dunblane locations offer the Level Up Performance Groups, for ages 12-18. We hold auditions for these groups at the end of the summer term. Information about auditions and how to apply will be shared on our website and with our current students.
For adult students, we have different performance opportunities. This ranges from an informal Student Sharing in Edinburgh at the end of each winter term that is only open to other students, to cabaret evenings for solo and small group performances.
Our class administrators can best direct you to the most suitable class based on student experience and class availability. Class admins can be emailed using the contact details below.
If you have done pole, gymnastics or similar physical disciplines, we ask that you start in a beginners’ class so that you learn the basic skills and techniques of aerial before entering into a higher level class.
