Participatory Film Projects

Connecting Threads

Connecting Threads was a dance and film project, created as part of Renfrewshire Council’s Sma’ Shot festival celebrations during the first lockdown of 2020. Sma‘ Shot Day is Paisley’s annual celebration of the historic victory of local weavers in a famous dispute

Working with Dance Artists Chrissie Ardill, Vince Virr and Marie Williamson, we created choreography and creative tasks online to a specially commissioned soundtrack by composer Dave Boyd.

We engaged over 80 local dancers of all ages and abilities to take part.  They filmed themselves dancing in their bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens or gardens.  We then created 2 films from their footage that was screened as part of the Sma’ Shot Day celebrations.

Burning of the Cork

Burning of the Cork was a participatory film project in collaboration with Cagoule Productions, commissioned by Renfrewshire Council for their Sma’ Shot celebrations 2021.

Working with All or Nothing professional performers and young performers from PACE Youth Theatre, Right 2 Dance and Jennifer Scott Dance.

3 short films were created using theatre, dance and aerial highlighting key moments in the story of Sma’ Shot Day and what led to the Burning of the Cork. These were screened online on Sma’ Shot Day 2021.
