Spectral

Aerialist is suspended in midair, hanging from a trapeze, while green lasers illuminate the foreground

Spectral is a powerful multi-dimensional performance-gig blending electronic live music, unique lighting design, contemporary dance, and aerial choreography.

Commissioned by and presented at Hidden Door Festival 2025, it was performed and created in the vast space of the Crane Shed in the Paper Factory in West Edinburgh.

In a rhythmic, industrial-inspired landscape, flying and grounded bodies animate the space, merging seamlessly with light and sound to create a visually stunning, immersive experience. The performance moves between urgent physicality and suspended, dreamlike states, building tension into a spectacular, club-like atmosphere, blurring the lines between concert, installation, and live performance.

The concept for the performance was developed by Lead Artist, Tess Letham and LX Designer Sam Jones. Tess is an award-winning performance and dance-theatre maker based in Edinburgh, creating powerful and surreal worlds that blend dynamic physicality with striking design.

All or Nothing Artistic Director, Jen Paterson, joined Tess to develop the aerial choreography for SPECTRAL. The creative team was completed with the addition of musician and sound artist, Dave House.
